Greetings
Well, I am a little shy and nervous about all this. I have heard about EFeds for quite some time, and have decided to give it a try. I have been role playing for about ten years now, and this will be something completely new for me. And I am quite excited to try it out, and see how things go. I run my own RP site also, so there shall be lots of role playing for me now. Which is great. Umm.... I'm not too sure what else to say, I love metal music. Almost any genre of metal. I'm not picky. But I'm not into the slow, and sappy stuff. It has to be something you can head bang to. lol I'm an artist and a writer. So I always am bursting with creativity. I spend quite a bit of time on the computer. I just loves these magical boxes, Hehe. And I'm a big gamer. Been playing video games for around seventeen years now.
Anyways, I'm really excited to try this out, and have a good time. For this is something new, and trying new things is always a good thing. I hope to make many friends here, and see what I can do to improve my role plays. This is all I can think of, so I'm heading out now.
Later

Even for those experienced in roleplaying it can often take a little while to fit into the way a new system works, and the only way to do that is by giving it a shot. Or two, or six, whatever. ACW effectively has three different "forms" that are used: promo RPs, CDs, and strats. Promos are where you write a post on the appropriately labeled board about your character prepping for their scheduled match that week, addressing their opponent, showing off, talking smack, etc; these are judged by a scoring system with different categories to determine who wins the match (you find out who wins when the show comes up each week, and the scoring system can be found on the ACW front page). CD means character developement, and posts for that go on their own, also appropriately labeled board; this is for when you don't have a match but want to show more about your character or just want to DO an RP that doesn't directly pertain to your match that week (relevance and point/counterpoint are two of the scoring categories, so if you cut a match promo that doesn't pertain to the match in question you're effectively cutting your score by a third before you even start). Strats are waht ACW calls the non-match segments of a show (either weekly Shockwave episodes or monthly Pay Per Views); it could be a brief bit about your character simply arriving at the venue, an encounter with other characters backstage (conversation, argument, outright brawl, just about anything is fair game if it could happen on a real televised pro wrestling show), a bit with an official ACW interviewer, etc. Strats involving other handlers' characters chould be cleared and collaborated with those handlers, which can usually be reached easily enough either via PM here on the site or by AIM, Yahoo, MSN, etc (there's a "messengers" thread where IM screen names are posted you might want to check out).
As Geoff mentioned, there are plenty of people that have been here for a while that are usually more than happy to answer any questions, provide feedback on RP posts, just chat, etc. There's the feedback board which should be self explanatory, plus that messenger thread and PMs I already mentioned. Feel free to get ahold of just about anybody for pretty much anything. The "ACW Staff" profile on the board here is accessible by several of our head writers/bookers and can be contacted via PM if you need an official answer or have any complaints (we don't have that happen often, but the process is there just in case it's needed).
Also, just a reminder, there are sometimes big differences between the way the people here act and the way their characters act (particularly those of us who play heels). It is standard procedure around here for any given two people to chat all friendly-like in the OOC sections and via IMs, then tear into each other something fierce in promos. Since you said you're an experienced roleplayer you probably knew that much already, but just a reminder that this is often adversarial roleplaying. For example, I'm usually a pretty nice guy, but my character is often a grade A++ asshole to just about everybody (even his own tag team partner frequently reminds people of that).
You don't have to listen to me about anything, but I would recommend writing up a Character Development RP to introduce your character and possibly ask for feedback on it as a way to get a feel for things before your first match comes up. Maybe even browse through the RP boards (match cards are listed weekly on their own board for reference) and the show archives (which can be found on the front page under "Live Events"). We currently have more roster than match writers, but the bookers are usually pretty good about getting everybody a fair share of action. Even if you don't have a scheduled match, like this Sunday's PPV, you can write up a strat of your character backstage doing an introductory interview or such.
Welcome aboard and enjoy!

Awesome. I will always come to you guys if there are any questions I have. I also have already been typing out a character development RP, and am excited to get it started and up. I'll be asking for feedback, or am hoping I do a good enough job for others to take notice. Which would feel nice. But either way, experience has it's good points to it. Since I have RPed pretty much everything under the sun.

The key thing to remember is patience. When I came here, I was in the same boat as you...lots of RP experience, not a bit of eFed experience...so it took a few months to formulate a style that worked (for me).
Mike makes good points. People here, by and large, are friendly no matter how henious their wrestlers may act. Feel free to ask questions, ask for advice or feedback...things like that. Adding on to some of Mike's other advice, I reccommend reading through some of the role plays already posted in both the Shockwave/PPV section and the Character Development section. Granted, everyone has a different means of getting their point across, but the format is roughly the same all around. It can give you an idea of what to expect when you take on some matches.
Aside from all that...it's great to have you in the group with us, more so since you're bringing another lady to the Women's Division. ACW prides itself on the Women's Division with good reason as sometimes the competition there is more heady than the Men's Division.
Drop us a line if you have any questions, concerns, quips, queries or snide remarks. We're always open.

Welcome aboard and good luck! Its a process that's for sure - I'd been roleplaying since 7th grade table-top for D&D, and then of course online for years before I ever joined an eFed...this is my first one.
I had no clue how to proceed when I first started, but I'm a fast study and I've done very well for myself so far. ::grin::
The one thing that really helped me at first was study actually. I read the posted RPs that were current and then I went back to those character's starts and evaulated how they'd changed since they were first introduced. It was a fun little journey and helped me understand those characters a little better in the long run and it definitely helped me be the matchwriter I am today.
But pretty much I lost at first, and then I let my character do what she needed to do and it took off from there.
Good luck and I hope you enjoy your stay!

Thanks everyone. I have been reading the boards through and through. I've also seen this style for over a year now, but never had much interest in it. And I'm trying this out for fun. It doesn't matter to me if I win or not, just as long as I have a good time. I know it'll take a while, since well, the role playing I'm use to is fantasy styled.
Either way, thanks for all the replies, and allowing me to get to know this site a little better. I'm starting my first post today, and shall be asking for feedback. I'm excited to see what's good, and what I have to work on. =^.^=

Lets hope your stay lasts a while.... Welcome welcome. Glad to have you. This is my first true efed experience. I have been Rping now for over 12 years. I think if you love Rping and enjoy good people to go up against, which we have plenty, then you will be fine. Remember to have fun. Win or lose have fun with your talent.

i was in the same boat as you when i started, completely fantasy based RP for many, many years, but since i started E-Feding i have found i prefere this style to anything else. The drama free air is a welcomed change from the constant...um...."dick measuring" where i came from before.
You will find that here in ACW we do allow our members to include some aspects of "Fantasy" RP in their characters, case and point would be Ms. Matthews, whose character is a form of a mystic, ability to see Ghosts ect ect.
So try and have some fun.

Oh yeah, metal rules!
And I must have been lucky with role playing all these years. I have had the grace of having people who are nice, and will to teach compared to trash my role playing skills. Only time I have gotten irritated with the fantasy thing would be God-Modding. And when Noobs join in from no where and only type one two liner posts.
Either way, I'm pretty impressed with this style of role play. Going to have to get use to posting pretty much for myself, compared to active role playing where one types a post, and then another replies, and it goes back and forth, formulating this massive epic story. Ah... The good old days. But I am still going to continue on with my fantasy role playing, since I do run a site. I just can't up and leave. Thanks for all your comments, and the feedback to my first CDs.
And joining ACW, the only thing I had in mind was, "This is going to be fun." I'm not here to win, just improve on my skills, and become better at what I love.
