Upon chatting with my up and coming opponent, Mr. Laroux, I discovered how he came up with the character. I find these stories very, very interesting.
My story, or rather Jeff's: I usually play a schizophrenic/insane giant named The Demon. A guy who "got posesed" and it ruined his life. He almost killed his wife. But I wanted something new.
I know I posted this in my intro, but in case you missed it...
I used to play with Wrestling Action figures, and I would take my normal, non wrestling action figures and make them wrestlers. I had a finger flip BMX guy whose name was Jeff Purse.
Thats pretty much how I invented him. The only differance between him and the ACW Jeff Purse...my action figure was a heel.
That was back when imagination ruled my mind though, haha.
So whats your story? How did you develop your character, I would love to hear it.

Well, it's like Mr. Purse said. My story about the creation of Laroux is simple enough. I was listening to a band my friend Alex led me onto, Porcelain and The Tramps. Finished the one he linked me to and I saw "Your Favorite Drug" in the related section. So, I listened to it and I was captivated. I was like "...This would be a great gimmick." A little planning later and I was flipping through the TV when one of my favorite episodes of The O.C.(shhhh) came on and I saw Logan Marshall Green. Theme plus Character Base and poof. Xavier Laroux. The last name coming from that band, LaRoux. And well, Xavier is just a kick ass name. There's the story! =D

The old character I used to play with, Marc "The Mu$cle" Black, was sort of a cross between the current Ernie and the Million Dollar Man. He was a really greedy type, willing to do anything violent for a buck but more focused on getting rich than the philosophical part of it like Ernie.
I figure, beentheredonethat... So I suck the Hollywood out of Marc and look at a gimmick that's part Sgt. Slaughter and part Raven (ECW days), with a big of Virgil tossed in.

Wish that there was something interesting that could be related to about how Aaron was created but to be perfectly honest? He was made as a reaction to a stray thought and little more.
I've handled several characters over my tenure here and upon coming to the conclusion, wrong or right, that my main character since my joining was 'ruined' (questionably) I decided that I wanted to put the knowledge gained to use and make someone new and, for as long as possible, not let on who was handling him. This isn't meant to sound arrogant, but when you have status and success linked to your name, doing anything else with the same name is like having an inescapable stigma.
In any event, Aaron was born of the desire to do something new and off the beaten path. A character without issues, without past grief and who was about as genuine as it got. Come up with a little background and enough history to make things interesting, a profile to go along with and then toss him to the wolves. He's an enjoyable character but sometimes difficult to write for.

Devon started because I wanted to prove something. After playing the top woman in the company, I knew there was only so far I could go with her...and I knew I could do more. So it started small. One of the neighbors had a 76 Cadillac El Dorado black of course and I wondered. What kind of guy drives a car like that? Started...thinking about attitude, picture surfing random places, and then I found The Song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJ09asJ5474I always knew his first name was Devon, and his real last name was Cole, to tie him into some backstory, but his ring name of Mayhem? www.youtube.com/watch?v=CocgDJJCBFII was working on his moves list and there it was on TV and I went... Aww hell no. The rest is history =D

Well my story is simple. Who wouldn't want to write your roleplays as a fat redneck? On second thought, don't answer that question. I for one, made Bubba Anthony when I was thirteen as a gimmick for me when I became a Professional Wrester, since I live in the South. Before ACW, all my characters were dark and crazy, so I decided to change it up, and made me a redneck. Now remember, this gimmick was for me, but I had to change a few things. First I had to make Bubba bigger than me. I'm 5'10'' 130 pounds, so I added a few inches and two hundreds pounds cause I can . Then came the fact that you can't be a redneck without alcohol, so that was added in. And many shows portrayed rednecks as people without teeth, so yeah, that got thrown in. So yeah, the redneck was made.

Post by Derryk Aires on Jul 28, 2011 11:02:25 GMT -5
Those who know Derryk Aires and have been around me since the RCWF/NGPW days know the history of the Prodigy. Back in... uh... let's leave dates out of this.
RCWF - Syne emerged as a monster for hire. One which actually had become quite a threat, just ask Chris XL how cruel Syne was during those days. That went on for quite awhile, didn't really achieve titles with him as I had him for a secondary character although he was a Hardcore champion at one point.
RCWF/NGPW - Took a break and when I returned so did Syne, but after a brief feud over in another fed (IWA) that had in many ways left Syne victorious, but the end result was IWA Spirit Squad running a diesel into a Hearst which burst aflame. Back in RCWF we are now and Lord Saddler of the Dead Zone (At time was Zombie and Ghost as partners) 'resurrected' Syne and dubbed him as the 'Sadistic Beast' Azaziel bringing him into the folds of Dead Zone. Saddler held all control over the Beast and for time while the fed remained as a dicing one there was a lot of devastation caused.
IWA - RCWF turned to a Sim style fed and joined up with IWA. Azaziel returned to terrorize IWA once more and the second round was better as he was brought into the folds of the Brothers of Blood where he claimed Tag Team Gold (w/ Vampiro). He was feared for a little bit, but as time wore on and the losses began accumulating is when the time for a new change began to show itself. A reinvention so to speak, but I was stubborn.
ACW - Azaziel arrives to the ACW and while the monster heel gimmick is over worked and been seen a million times (and knowing needed a change), I kept to my stubborn means of sending Azaziel into the fold. (Doesn't help less effort was placed into it during dicing days so was extremely rusty on actually promo'ing heels especially as during RCWF/NGPW and the IWA times Azaziel didn't speak.... EVER). So came the first victory then seeing how much Azaziel speaking really set things off had originally made me want to scrap Azaziel. Some advice from a great friend who is like a brother to me (Chris XL) and had my wheels turning for the reinvention of Azaziel.
This reinvention took Azaziel back in time, beyond the RCWF days to his original inception where his name during the Indy circuits was "The Prodigy" Derryk Aires. Yet kept the PB for Kane as always have done, but with a reinvention, evolution of the character persay came some hefty changes. Such as Aires needed to be a bit shorter (3 inches) which is explained by heel inserts. Next came the biggest problem the weight difference. This idea while wish I had thought of it rather came for another friend who suggested it when told him what I was trying to do (Chris himself, Snake) which was that during time off had garnered an intestinal illness. That would be realistic to explain the weight shift as it has happened times before such as with Matt Hardy.
Now I already knew the moveset for Aires was different in many ways from Azaziel. Azaziel was get in kill and leave. Aires on the other hand moves in and slowly picks them apart; a technical powerhouse. With the moveset already known and changed upon the profile as well as with the stats left me to find decent music. After some talking and bit of help from several friends it was Mina who emerged with the music that fit Aires. Thus 'Nuclear Winter' by Krystal System was placed with Derryk due to the slow, methodical melodies.
And so it came that Derryk Aires had finally arrived as himself. It only took several long years for Aires to finally be able to have that chance to be himself and prove himself with his own name, but worth it and been tons of fun.
Now everyone who was curious about Azaziel/Aires can really follow the career of how he evolves further in ACW.
Edit Note: Aires is also in a dicing fed known as NGW now as well. Already claimed two titles reigns, although short lived with NGW Bloodshot Championship (dang 24/7 rule). So he has been evolving more there as well. I know what happens in other feds doesn't truly matter in ACW, but it is part of Aires' history which is what this thread is all about.

Post by Aubrey J. Parker on Jul 28, 2011 11:34:53 GMT -5
Evan Harrison started off as Evan Heir in AWA... I wanted to play an arrogant, rich heel character. My inspiration was Shane McMahon. I had watched some of his promos, which I always found to be compelling. His matches weren't the most... logical... or technically sound... buuut they were entertaining and inspired a lot of Evan's moveset. This was in 2007 I think... And Heir as a heel lasted for all of about two months. Since then, he was briefly a heel in UWA, but has been a face for most of, if not all of his career aside from that. He didn't wrestle under his real name "Evan Harrison" until ACW.
AJP was originally Jessi Parker, a happy-go-lucky, kind of eerily optimistic stylist that doubled as Heir's manager toward the end of AWA and in UWA. In her first few appearances on-camera in ACW she was still a face, but made an abrupt heel turn when she appeared live. This was done because I've never truly played a heel before Aubrey J. Parker and I was curious as to how it would go-- and I think it's gone quite well. Really, my desire to play a heel long-term is what shaped the Parker character. For influences, I looked toward Trish Stratus, the Miz, and AJ Styles, despite not being too big of a TNA fan. I did like aspects of his heel character though (the Ric Flair run, not the Christian Coalition character flop).
The Parker character was actually created with the thought of two of my real-life friends. They've always been interested in fashion, cosmetics, etc. and that's easy to base a female character off of in the wrestling world, whether face or heel. I turned her heel on a whim in ACW just to challenge myself with the dynamic of a babyface wrestler taking orders from a heel valet. Her character is drastically different now, but there are still shades of Jess from time to time methinks.

Well there maniacs, the story of David Caid....I had always had a knack for creating characters. I did the backyard thing...honestly. That's where David Caid was created. They say the best persona is the one that is completely opposite of your own. Well in real life I am the nicest person you will ever meet. So I wanted to be character wise, the most despised and the biggest asshole I could be. There thats the character persona. The theme Another Me....it falls into the type of music I listen to. You know AFI, Living Colour, etc. I have been thinking of changing my theme to Miseria Cantrae by AFI. As far as pic base....the original Pic base when he was in the gathering in TNA and slowly changed with him. When I realized I was too much like Punk in a sense, I changed the Pic base to Orton.

Post by Cole Blaze on Jul 28, 2011 20:18:58 GMT -5
Ok, well everyone else is pitching a story so Imma get into this one,
ok I started off in MMA ( for real ) and did great, then I got a really bad injury, I snapped my femur in my left leg... I thought it ended my career and was out for a long time.... needless to say I couldnt get any docs to ok me to fight. So I went back to cleveland and started working for a friend doing security at his wrestling shows, being a big fan of wrestling I was honored to be there... After a few shows the owner ( Chuck ) offered me a chance to get back into the ring... but this time it was to fake wrestle and not fight ( he had made it clear that I wasnt aloud to really let loose on someone ) I said OK and was going to wrestle under the name "Fenominal" Frankie.B... but he said that it was lame, so when he introduced me as I came out waiting to hear my name, He announces "the Irish Submission Specialest" Cole Blaze... Well I wreslted under the name for a few years and then I got out of it, getting married and all that jazz, then after a few years goes by, I miss wrestling and start jonsing for some compatition and start looking into E wrestling ( a friend from the computer mentioned it to me, so I end up talking to this Chick Sarah, she is running this E fed named ACW, I take a look and think to myself " what the hell " this might be fun " next thing I know I start trash talking to the first person that I se p;ost an RP, and then I got booked into a match against him and got owned, the guy was nice enough to kind of take me under his wing and help me ALLOT! and well because of that I improved kind of looking over what he had been doing and kind of not quite copieing him, but taking some of the ideas that he was using and used them in my own way...Well between reading his stuff and him helping me threw the years, I got better, and beleve it or not this is the only fed I have ever wrote for, and Its going to be the only one in my book worth writing for....
And with that being said.... Thanks Sarah for talking me into joining, and thank you Shane for helping me when I had no dam clue what in the hell I was doing!!!!
Well that is my story, I got the name from a friend and got my start right here!!

Post by Mike Voland on Jul 28, 2011 22:40:41 GMT -5
The only reason that Voland's first name is Mike (the same as my own) is that the first fed I joined and created this character for had a weird issue about that kind of thing. I first became familiar with that fed through Jake (Hyena) because I was his roommate when he first joined said fed (I was consulted on the initial creation process for Hyena, though Jake had all the basics I did help refine a few points- he wanted a finisher called the Last Laugh but I was the one to suggest a face to face variant of the Stunner).
Eventually Jake convinced me to join in on the fun and toss my hat into the ring (figuratively; at this point Voland didn't even exist yet and as such had no signature hat). So I started to craft a character that I could play, having a bit of thirdhand experience through watching my best friend play his own character, often bouncing ideas off of me as a convenient and readily available sounding board (we lived together and I can divide my attention between my video games and commentary on suggested smacktalk). Move-wise, I went for what I thought I'd actually be capable of if I wasn't too damn lazy to bust my ass (I did bust my ass in middle school, wrestling, but after three years when I was actually finally winning I decided it wasn't worth the total lack of a life for half the year).
Then I though, "How should this guy actually act? How should he talk?" The answer was obvious. Exactly how I would talk and act in such situations but without inhibitions. Without the manners that my mother (bless her soul) drilled into my head growing up. Without any fear of repercussions. With complete confidence, to the point of arrogance. And absolutely no apologies.
Jake recommended the name Voland from obscure Russian literature; referencing a character who was strongly implied to be, in fact, The Devil in human disguise. That first fed accepted that as long as I attached my own first name to it, and the character took on his own life from there. Voland is what I would be without financial restrictions (he owns a business that his angry yet capable sister usually manages) or my own morals (Voland has a sort of code of honor, though few would call it "honorable" because he refuses to see the world through any eyes but his own).
Upon coming to ACW, Voland grew, a lot. Natural cause and effect, really, with me being encouraged to follow through.
I actually do have a rough backstory for Mike and Tee Voland's parents (they are both alive and well, though they aren't in the U.S. but I know where they are and what they're doing) but that matter has never came up.

Post by Kaylyn 'Career on Hold' Evans on Jul 29, 2011 1:32:51 GMT -5
Okay, so I was so not going to do this... but... with everyone jumping aboard.... FINE! Kaylyn originally started as Kelsia Vector, a black woman. Came in as a face, but Alexa got on her right away and she quickly became a heel. After 7 months or so I came across the pic base I use now, and I wanted it badly, so with the help of a great mind... I got an idea together to make it work. Had her with the artificial skin etc to make her Kelsia Vector. As Kaylyn she has been nothing but evil. She is the me that I hide deep down. The me that says whats on her mind not giving a damn what anyone else has to say.
However... with things that happened with her losing her career... things are going to change, and if you follow twitter, that showed today. Ashley is the sweet and innocent. She is me. Quiet, stays to herself, and listens to whats going on, but keeps it to herself. Not the one to start trouble. Tries to be nice to everyone, but if you piss her off... there will be problems. I wanted to bring in a face after Kay was heel, and Ashley worked.. however, she is HARD as hell for me to play, because I am so used to being a heel [font=Sylfaen Heather came in originally as Laroux Manager. Thats all she was going to be. All she was made for... however, with the change of events, she was taken under Kaylyn's wing, and Kaylyn went to training her. She is not sure if she is ready to get into the ring or not yet, but if she does... she will be another one to watch out for, because like Kay... she don't give a damn, and while Kay might be getting a heart... Heather still has none. In short... thats my stories... I have more I could say, but thats good right there

Post by A.C. Smith on Jul 29, 2011 20:55:47 GMT -5
I started RP'ing in late-2001, early-2002, and have used the exact same character the entire time. This was soon after the Twin Towers went down, and I wanted a guy who would, in theory, get over as a babyface but still have room to be a badass. What better way to do that, at that time, than by being a 6'8", 275-pound powerhouse who just happened to be a former New York City cop that had been put through the wringer?
The rest just sort of snowballed from there; I wanted awesome music for him that got the crowd pumped without necessarily being cliched, so I went from Bon Jovi in the Backyard Brawl and More Power Wrestling to the Ultimate Warrior's theme (still, in my opinion, the most fitting entrance music ever made), Neil Young's "Rocking in the Free World," and "Welcome to the Jungle" in AWA, and then "Rock of Ages" and "Iron Man" here.
A large part of Smith's character comes from old John Wayne movies. He always seemed to play the same character, a guy who put all his cards on the table right away saying, essentially, "I'll be nice to you, but if you give me a reason, I'll kick your ass." Believe it or not, A.C. has never been a heel. Tweener on a few isolated occasions, but never ever a heel, and I don't think the character was ever intended to be one.
That said, being his character's been a blast. Quite frankly, if you'd told me nine years ago that I'd get this kind of mileage out of Smith, I'd have said you were crazy. Still, I'm riding the wave for as long as I can.

Post by Jay Omega on Dec 29, 2011 5:51:44 GMT -5
Oh man, where do I begin? Back in 1996, I think. Yeah, remember Netscape? Those were the days. I'm not even sure how I got into E-fedding, but it turned out to be a much better outlet than the Mortal Kombat-based roleplaying I was into at the time. Yes, that was a thing, and it will be relevant in a moment.
Anywho, I'll come right out and say that I took the name Jay Omega from a book called "Bimbos of the Death Sun". I can't tell you what it was about, because I didn't actually read it, but the main character was an English professor named James Owen Mega who wrote a trashy novel under the uninspired pseudonym of Jay Omega. Something about the name struck a chord with me, and I modified it only slightly, by adding "ron" to the last name. 'Cause really, "Mega"? That just sounds stupid.
The original concept for the character was actually for him to be a bumbling lunatic; the slapstick comedy relief sidekick for my main character at the time, a Japanese martial artist named Arson that I just pulled out of my ass when I joined my first fed. If you had told me at the time that Jay would go on to win any championships, let alone multiple World titles, I probably would've laughed, because even I didn't take him seriously. We're talking about a guy who used to eat chili by dumping spoonfuls on his head, and trying to catch whatever dripped down with his tongue. And even after I diverted my interest, and made him my main wrestling persona, he remained a goofy, light-hearted madman for years. Never really won much in the way of titles through that time, but he certainly brought laughs to whatever fed I found myself in. A couple of years ago, the first fed I joined re-opened after almost a decade, and I opted to sign up there, having been in a dry spell for quality competition for a few months.
During that time, I began to take the Omega Man a bit more seriously. There was some stiff competition that forced me to change not only the way I thought about this pastime, but the way Jay thought too. So I orchestrated a series of events that improbably led to him regaining some measure of his sanity. Tried having him lose it again as time went by, but I just couldn't do it; the character had become too good. Not just in the face/heel sense, but in that I had more freedom. No longer reliant on pop culture references and parodies to bring entertainment to my writing, I was able to branch out more. The first thing Jay needed was a new personality, so I co-opted that of one Jonny Cage(remember that Mortal Kombat reference earlier?); y'know, rich, arrogant, cocksure(tee hee), but at the same time, perfectly confident that he is capable of kicking your ass at any time, and therefore, amused at your attempts to get under his skin. And of course, much like with Mike Voland, a lot of his attitude is how I would act without financial or moral restrictions.
As for the look, that too has evolved over the years since I first pictured him in my head, and translated that as best I could into a character on WWF: Warzone, for the N64. Combat boots, camo fatigues, a D-X jersey, black fingerless gloves, a full-face leather mask, and shoulder length blond hair. And for a while after his inception, that was all he ever wore. Even in the shower. Hey, he's gotta wash his clothes somehow, doesn't he? And he's too big to ride in the washing machine. Hmm, rambling again.
After a while, I figured it probably wasn't a good idea to have Jay promoting a stable from another company, but the music industry was okay, so he started wearing T-shirts depicting album covers of bands I listened to at the time(and still does to this day, but not in the ring anymore). Then one day I decided to give him a haircut, because there were too many dudes with long hair all over the place, and if there's one thing Jay is not, it's a follower. Also, sober. After a messy disaster involving a deep-fried tuna salad sandwich, the inadequate size of his mask's mouth-hole, and "the biggest, sharpest, sparkliest, knifiest knife we've got", Jay decided to forgo the mask, in favour of facepaint instead. This was the first, and least surprising, decision that Jay made for himself, but I figured what the Hell, and let him have his way. Then I made the mistake of taking my eye off him -- just for a moment, I swear -- and the next thing I knew, he'd decided to dress himself, too; taking bits and pieces from existing wrestlers who helped inspire his fighting style. Now he wears skate shoes(like Bam Margera), black cargo pants(like Jeff Hardy, circa '99), a white tank top(like Billy Kidman), a green plaid flannel vest(like Cactus Jack), and green tape around his hands and wrists(like Triple H). The facepaint kinda looked like the old Sting(y'know, the blond one), but in camouflage colours. I was eventually able to talk him out of the facepaint, but once I'd put the outfit together as best I could on WWF: No Mercy(also for the N64), I decided that I actually kind of liked the look, and let him keep it. Once he regained his sanity, he too decided to keep the look, but also decided it was about time to start wearing other clothes when not competing. Now that his face was uncovered, though, I needed a pic base; no more altered images of the old Kane. It took some time, but I eventually settled on Brendon Small, creator of Metalocalypse.
And as far as the face/heel aspect goes, Jay's been beloved by the fans for almost his entire career, save for his brief heel run here in the ACW, which garnered him roughly zero success.
On a side note, I agree with something Mike said in another post, about there being a wealth of good pic bases outside the wrestling community. Out of all the characters I've handled over the years, I think I've only used one wrestler for a pic base; Kaz Hayashi, for Arson.
