"He ate my horse."
-Elend Venture, The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson. The line is in response to the mildly interested, questioning looks he gets from the squad of bestial soldiers escorting him through their armed camp after he jumps and kills one of their number with no warning then loots the body. The explanation is met with shrugs and nods, then they take him the rest of the way out of the camp.

"I used to think Camon was a terrible man. He beat people, he killed those who disagreed with him. Even among street thugs, he was brutal. But I doubt he killed as many people during his entire life as I killed last night." "Those were enemy soldiers, Vin." "I was like a child in a room full of bugs."

"You people are all insane. How I ended up with you, I will never know" "Now, that's a lie, Cett. You know exactly how you ended up joining with us. We threatened to kill you if you didn't!"
Lord Ashweather Cett and Breeze, The Hero of Ages, book three of the Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson.

For reference, Zola was an ambitious, bloodthirsty b*tch even before she got hopped up on a double dose of what might quite possibly be the most powerful stimulant known to man.

Should I be concerned Voland and I read at least two of the same web comics?

Should I be concerned Voland and I read at least two of the same web comics? Nah, it just means that you have surprisingly good taste. And on the note of webcomics... "Mousy little thing, isn't she?" -Ellen, El Goonish Shive

A Norrington to lead them, Immortal, washed in fire, Victorious, from sea to ice.
Power of the north he will shatter, A scourge he will kill, Then Vorquellyn will redeem.
-The Norrington Prophecy, from The Dragoncrown War Cycle, first spoken in the prequel book The Dark Glory War, by Michael A Stackpole. A truly awesome four book series if you're into epic fantasy. Fortress Draconis, all four hundred plus pages of it, is the only full length novel that I've ever read in a single sitting (took me about eight hours).

"It was priests that came to Felson's village. They promised the blessings of God and forgiveness of sins to any men who would pledge to fight in the Crusades. It was the part about sin that caught Felson's attention. 'Will it forgive adultery,' he asked. 'Yes,' said the priests, 'for a two year pledge.' 'Will it forgive theft,' Felson asked. 'Yes,' the priests told him, 'for a three year pledge.' Felson thought about this for a moment and then said to the priests, 'You'd better sign me up for ten.'" -Behmen, Season of the Witch.

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose in the Mountains of Mist. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.
The Eye of the World[/u] by Robert Jordan

"Wizard's First Rule: people are stupid." Richard and Kahlan frowned even more. "People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool."
Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind
